Myth and reality come together in the
word:
ACTING.
Acting out scenes in soaps, movies, stage productions, and commercials
may seem like a simple matter of carrying out the director's instructions.
Once the director says "LIGHTS-CAMERA-ACTION," actors let all
of their creative juices flow, in order to bring their characters
to life.
Many people
think that successful actors are born with extraordinary talents,
and that these talents
are
the key to their success, the one thing that allows them to create memorable
performances and be regarded as great artists. This is simply a MYTH. To
deliver a powerful performance, the acting must be seamless, lively, truthful;
the emotions portrayed on the stage/screen must feel like the real
thing. Only then does a character come to life, and audiences are
able to see, behind the acting and the script, a real human being.
In order to achieve this kind of result, actors must prepare well
and study their
characters tenaciously and scrupulously. This is
the REALITY.
The greatest movie stars of our time, artists like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Robert de Niro, and Al Pacino, are MYTHS in their own right. They faced an important REALITY; they put their body and soul in the study of the performance arts.
"To deliver a powerful performance, the acting must be seamless, lively, and truthful."

A. There is a popular adage, known all
over the world,
that says: "It's never too
late to learn." If you have the desire to study acting, do it: today is
the day–your dreams are waiting for you! Acting is a noble career, in
which age is regarded as a positive element; your life experiences will allow
you to be a better person and therefore, a better artist.
Q. I don't need to study acting; I am sure that a producer will discover me while I'm walking down the street and he/she is going to make me a star. It still happens, right?
Fifty years ago, talent for artistic
productions was found in the streets; back then, producers took it
upon themselves to train actors, and provided plenty of
opportunities
for them to work in many different artistic productions. Today, due
to the enormous competition in the business of entertainment, producers
do not train talent any longer and usually limit their work offers to
actors who show up at casting calls/readings equipped with a solid background
of training and experience.
If someone were to stop you in the streets, offering you free acting training, and talking about job opportunities in the entertainment industry, be extremely careful. Chances are they may be after something else, or their intentions may not be entirely honorable.
